Alcide d'orbigny qui les a visités (r) avait rapporté en France une grammaire et un dictionnaire de leur langue, ma nuscrit dont j'ai connu l'existence par la note suivante (a) 4 Among the dº0rbigny mss, in the Bibliotheque Nationale, I foun dan inedited grammar and dictionary of the Yurucari language. It Would be very desirable to have this published, as our present knowledge of the tongue rests on a few imper íect vocabularies. The work is doubtless that by P. La Cueva, mentionned in H. Ludewig List af'amcr. Abarig. Languages p. 206. But the author and editor of that work were in error in classing the Tacana and Matopa as members of the Yurucari stock. They belong to a diferent family.
